Amanda Cohen

Amanda is a compassionate and dedicated Registered Mental Health Counseling Intern with NeuMind Wellness Group and has a deep passion for helping people of all ages navigate life’s challenges. She holds a Master of Science in Special Education from Long Island University (formerly Dowling college)  and a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University.

She has a background in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy, and has worked extensively with children with special needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and other developmental and behavioral and emotional challenges. Having worked as a Special Education teacher in various middle and high schools, Amanda has extensive experience developing individualized education plans (IEPs) and collaborating with families and school teams to ensure every child received the support they deserved. That experience continues to shape her therapy work today—grounding it in compassion, patience, and a deep understanding of each person’s unique strengths and needs.

In addition to working with children and families, Amanda has provided therapeutic support to individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, gender dysphoria, sexual dysfunction, PTSD, and self-harm/suicidal ideations. She is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive space for clients to explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences.

Amanda’s counseling approach draws from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy, narrative therapy, and play therapy. She has also worked extensively with group therapy helping at youth-risks and the LGBTQ community. Amanda’s goal is always to create a warm, safe space where each client can feel truly heard and understood—whether you’re a young child working through big feelings, a teenager facing pressure and identity questions, or an adult navigating complex emotions or past trauma.  Currently she is completing post-graduate clinical hours under licensed supervision with  NeuMind Wellness Group. Amanda is passionate about helping individuals and families navigate life’s challenges and build meaningful, lasting change.
